How It All Began: My Obsession with Crimes

I've been living in the U.S. for almost eight years now—since November 17, 2017, to be exact. When I first arrived, I didn’t have a job yet. I didn’t drive (still don’t—LOL!), and with my husband off to work every day, I had a lot of time on my hands. Most of that time was spent online or watching TV. I was still adjusting, still figuring out my new life.

Then one day, my friend Cecil Nelson mentioned a woman named Jodi Arias—someone who had killed her ex-boyfriend. I got curious. I tuned in to her case on Investigation Discovery, and from that moment on... I was hooked.

Before that, I wasn’t even into crime shows. I was a K-Drama girl all the way—romance, teen stories, happy endings. Violence and murder weren’t my thing. But after one episode of true crime, everything else just seemed... boring. I wanted more. I needed to understand how crimes were committed, how people got caught, how the smallest clue could bring justice.

I started watching Investigation Discovery religiously. I'd be up at 3 a.m.—right after my husband left for work—and the TV would stay on until he came home. He used to joke, “Are you planning my murder? Practicing how to get away with it?” LOL! That's how obsessed I became.

Then came Forensic Files. Oh, how I loved that show. I watched every episode multiple times. I memorized cases, evidence, names, even killers’ faces. When it was taken off Netflix, I subscribed to Hulu just to keep watching. My day didn't feel complete without an episode or two... or ten.

From Forensic Files, I jumped into Criminal Minds, The Perfect Murder, and countless other true crime shows. I can’t even remember all the titles anymore—but they all fed my obsession with real crimes, forensic science, and the psychology behind it all.

This blog is a space for me to share that obsession—my thoughts, recaps, reactions, and maybe even some deep dives into the cases that haunt or fascinate me most. If you're into the dark, the twisted, and the forensic, you’re in the right place.

Welcome to My Obsession with Crimes. Let’s dig in.
